"Always Telling the Truth Means Never Having to Remember Anything"
By Dennis Balthaser
Over the years, several hi profile individuals have publicly spoken out about the reality of UFOs. As is the case with many first-hand witnesses to actual events, these individuals openly spoke about what they believe UFOs are, and in most cases it does not agree with what the government and military have been telling us for many years; that they are swamp gas, balloons, planets, crash test dummies, etc.
I will try to share a few of those comments they made in this editorial. After reading them, you can decide if these individuals know something that the government has not, and will not, admit to.
Cambridge University physicist Stephen Hawking was a guest speaker at the White House in 1998, where, in the presence of President Bill Clinton and Hillary, Hawking admitted to the possibility of a UFO cover-up while on the C-Span television’s coverage of the event. He further stated, “Of course it is possible the UFOs really do contain aliens as many believe, and the government is hushing it up.” In other comments he made at the time about alien’s contacting us, he said, “There is a very real danger that we will kill everything on this planet now that we have the technological power to do so.” [Editors note: Was Hawking indicating that there would be nothing left on earth for aliens to visit?]
Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, and husband of England’s Queen Elizabeth, at Sculthorpe Royal Air Force Base told five United States officers about his keen interest in UFOs, and that some of his relatives had seen them. He also said, “There are many reasons to believe that they (UFOs) do exist. There is so much evidence from reliable witnesses.” He was also interested in the United States intercept of a large UFO over the United Kingdom several years ago. Prince Phillip was a long time subscriber to Flying Saucer Review magazine.
American comedian, movie actor, and television entertainer Jackie Gleason, was a voracious reader of books on the paranormal, including UFOs. After his death in 1987, his large book collection was donated to the library at the University of Miami. He even had a house built in Florida in the shape of a UFO, which he named “The Mothership.” According to Gleason’s second wife, Beverly McKitrick, he told her that President Richard Nixon took him on a secret visit to Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. There, Gleason allegedly saw an alien spaceship and dead extraterrestrials.
Former astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, is one of only 12 people to have walked on the moon. At a UFO conference Mitchell attended he stated, “ Make no mistake, Roswell Happened. I’ve seen secret files which show the government knew about it – but decided not to tell the public.” In an interview with John Earls, Mitchell said, “I am an American astronaut and a trained scientist. Because of my position people in high places confide in me. And as a result, I have no doubt that aliens have visited this planet.” Mitchell also described himself as a cynic: “I wasn’t convinced about the existence of aliens until I started talking to the military old-timers who were there at the time of Roswell. The more government documentation on aliens I was told about, the more convinced I became.” He also said, “ Contrary to rumor, there are no alien buildings and structures on the moon. I should know, I was there!”
Hermann Oberth (mentor to Wernher von Braun) was a German scientist who is considered to be one of the founders of modern astronautics. During the 1950s and 1960s, Oberth offered his opinions regarding UFOs. In an article in the American weekly magazine of October 1954, Oberth stated, “It is my thesis that flying saucers are real, and that they are space ships from another solar system. I think that they possibly are manned by intelligent observers who are members of a race that may have been investigating our earth for centuries.” In another article Oberth stated, “Having weighed all the pros and cons, I find the explanation of flying discs from outer space the most likely one.”
Former Governor of California, and later President of the United States Ronald Reagan, seemed to make statements about Aliens and UFOs that were not necessarily written for him by a speechwriter. In December 1985, making remarks to students and faculty at Fallston High School in Maryland, President Reagan talked about his recent meeting with General Secretary Gorbachev in Geneva. He stated, “When you stop to think that we’re all God’s children, wherever we may live in the world, I couldn’t help but say to him, just think how easy his task and mine might be in these meetings that we held if suddenly there was a threat to this from some other species from another planet outside in the universe. We’d forget all the local differences that we have between our countries and we would find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on this earth together.” Two years later, on September 21, 1987, addressing the 42nd General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, President Reagan said, “In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world. And yet, I ask you, is not an alien force already among us? What could be more alien than war and the threat of war?”
Monsignor Corrado Balducci, served as a high level priest in the Roman Catholic Church in Rome and was very outspoken on his personal thoughts about UFOs. In an interview with German researcher Michael Hesemann in 1997, Balducci stated the following, “It is reasonable to believe and to affirm that extra-terrestrials exist. Their existence can no longer be denied, for there is too much evidence for the existence of extra-terrestrials and flying saucers as documented by UFO research, to assert categorically that they are illusions and hallucinations, or the eyewitness testimony accounts are not credible, is wrong.” We also know that the Catholic Church operates at least two telescopes; one near the Vatican in Rome and the other on Mount Graham in Arizona in partnership with the University of Arizona. The one in Arizona is appropriately named “Lucifer.”
There are, of course, many other prominent and well known individuals who have come forward about their thoughts on whether UFOs are real or not, and if we have, or are in fact, being visited. It’s past due time for our government and those in the military that continue to deny their existence, to come forward and admit that we have been lied to for at least the past 69 years. Because of my age, I don’t expect that will happen in my lifetime, but I am forever hopeful that someday our younger generation will have asked enough questions to finally obtain the truth.
